State Representatives
Strafford is in a shared district with Barrington, electing a total of four state representatives:
Two of our four State Representatives in the New Hampshire House are Democrats: Heath Howard and Cassandra Levesque. Their voting records show strong for Democratic values. The same cannot be said for the two Republican representatives from our district. |
State Representative Heath Howard
A lifelong resident of Strafford, Democrat Heath Howard is an upperclassman at the University of New Hampshire majoring in History. Heath was elected to his first term as our State Representative in 2022. Prior to getting elected to the NH House, Howard gained political experience working with Maura Sullivan’s campaign for Congress. He also served as an intern in former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s District Office, where he specialized in constituent services and legislative research.
"I've gotten a lot of support on my mission for change," Heath says, "and I intend to remain active in the New Hampshire community to make it an even better place to live!"

State Representative Cassandra Levesque
State Representative Cassandra Levesque of Barrington is currently serving her third term in the NH House, representing Strafford District 4. She is an artist, photographer, and a Political Science student at Southern New Hampshire University.
When Cassie was first elected to the NH House in 2018, she was the third youngest female to be elected in New Hampshire's history.
A lifelong resident of Barrington and the daughter of a US Air Force veteran, Cassie has been a driving force for making New Hampshire a better place for families. She is a strong advocate for women's and children's rights, as well as support for public schools. She believes that as the stewards of our New Hampshire environment, it is our duty to do all we can to protect it for future generations.
"It has been my honor to serve the people of my community and of New Hampshire," says Cassie. "I strongly feel the only way ahead is if we all stand together, vote, and make our communities safe and inclusive for all of their residents."

Get Motivated!
We know a lot about the special-interest politics of the two Republicans representing our districts in the State House. Their voting records speak for themselves. We need to work hard to replace them with Democrats in 2024!
Republican Rep. Michael Harrington of Strafford has primarily sponsored anti-income tax and energy-related legislation. He has been endorsed by Americans for Prosperity, a libertarian-conservative political advocacy group funded by the Koch brothers.
Republican Rep. Len Turcotte of Barrington has a history of voting to support abortion restrictions. He has voted to keep all laws that allow children to marry. He even wanted to keep the marriage age at 13 for girls/14 for boys. He has also voted for using conversion therapy on minors. Turcotte advocates for right-to-work legislation and was influential on the redistricting committee that saddled NH with gerrymandered maps that favor Republicans.

No-Response Harrington
Rep. Harrington never bothered to respond to the following letter from constituent Bob Perry, sent in January 2024.
Dear Rep. Harrington,
Once again, opponents of gerrymandering advocate for redistricting measures that lead to outcomes that respect both parties and their constituents. HB 1426, relative to establishing an advisory redistricting commission, is yet another attempt to establish an advisory redistricting commission - advisory, because we know the NH legislature has ultimate authority under our Constitution over the process. But what our U.S. Supreme Court has decided is that the party in power may stay in power through gerrymandered partisan districts, and left the design of fair maps to the states, knowing the party in power will not relinquish that power. Advisory commissions, however, have passed court muster. It's doable. In developing a history of advisory commissions going back to 2013, I have discovered you have supported the concept and, specifically, many similar bills. Would you be willing to speak in support of the above-captioned bill in committee? It is scheduled for public hearing Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 2:00 in election law.
Thank you.
Bob Perry, Strafford
